It is no wonder Mikail Kalashnikov refused to be interviewed by him. It was during World War II, and the Germans had invented an absolutely new form kahandr warfare that no one had ever seen before called the blitzkrieg. If you’re a gun- nut, you’ll hate this book. It’s hard work, and unless you have luck and perseverance, it’s difficult to make a living at it.
In this fascinating book, Larry Kahaner tells the story of this ubiquitous and deadly weapon, contrasting it with the admittedly inferior M and chronicling the role the AK has played in conflicts from Vietnam and Iraq to Rwanda and Colombia.

I think that this is a good book to be read alongside “American Rifle” by Alexander Rose as both address the politics of service weapon procurement and certainly compliment one another nicely.

The AK has done more damage than most have realized; it will be hard to tear from the grips of many develo I thought this book was very fascinating. Thanks for having me, Andrea. The book itself demonstrates this–after a lengthy chapter vituperating M performance and praising AK performance at Khe Sanh, comes this: Explain to me how the AK did this as opposed to mahaner guns or automatic weapons.

It has many small errors regarding the subject of the book. And the way they did it was they had these machine pistols. Basically, it’s the anti-Western cache of it.
